Britt LoSacco is a self-taught, figurative realist artist living in New York.
Growing up in a family of creatives, Britt observed from a young age the delightful magic trick that is Making Things—the transformation of mundane materials, with time, focus, and vision, into something else entirely. She spent considerable time as a child filling sketchbooks with pencil drawings but didn’t pursue visual art much past her early teens. Creative expression, however, remained a core part of her identity, fueling her wide-ranging pursuits as the years went on—a non-exhaustive list of which includes writing, acting, and the culinary arts.
When the 2020 Covid pandemic put life on hold and left time to fill, Britt began to explore painting for the first time. She played around with various mediums and tested techniques. Now decades removed from those childhood sketchbooks, she decided to finally give art-making an honest shot. It stuck.
Britt is now a full-time visual artist. Her work centers on the human form, from portraiture and life drawing to deeply emotional works in oil. Her tightly-rendered, conceptual paintings draw inspiration from personal experience, other art forms, and the current state of the world. Britt utilizes metaphor and symbolism to transmute the ineffable into something visible, in which the viewer might then recognize or discover something of themself.
Paintings by Britt have been exhibited in shows across the United States, displayed in public collections, and won multiple awards.
